Safe Boating Class 3 March 2007
Sign up NOW for the March class at Tulsa Port of Catoosa . . .

Flotilla 16-2 will present our most popular boating course -- America's Boating Course on 3 March 2007 at Tulsa Port of Catoosa. Class will begin at 9:00 am (registration begins at 8:30 am) and will conclude by 5:00 pm.

This course is FREE to everyone.  We do have a textbook and interactive CD-ROM for sale that are excellent for more in-depth study or to use as a reference in the future.  There is no obligation to purchase the book.  Often times, family members attending the class together will share one book.  All proceeds from sales of the book/CD are used to fund boating safety programs in the Tulsa area.  The funds never leave the local community.

Class will be held at the Port Authority Building at the Tulsa Port of Catoosa.  We will be right next door to the new Charley Border towboat museum and we will make sure there is some time available to check it out.

To get to Tulsa Port of Catoosa from Tulsa, take I-44 East to 193rd E. Ave. (Exit 240).  Go north on 193rd E. Ave. for approximately 2 miles to the Port entrance.  Just tell Security you are there to take the Coast Guard Auxiliary course and they will be able to direct you to the Port Authority Building.

Why should you take this course?

1.  This summer, children ages 12-15 are
required to have a Boating Education Safety Certificate (meaning they have successfully completed a safe boating course) in order to operate a vessel powered by a motor or combination of motors greater than 10 hp, a personal watercraft (PWC, Waverunner, JetSki, etc.) or a sailboat 16 feet or more in length.

2.  You and your family will have taken the most important step available to reduce your risk of accident or serious injury.  Studies show completing a course such as this is the biggest single factor in reducing the incidence and severity of accidents on the water.

3.  You will be a better boater and have more confidence on the water this summer.

4.  Most boat insurance companies offer a boat insurance discount to persons who have completed a safe boating course so you can save some dollars immediately.

5.  You will have fun taking the class with fellow boaters.

6.  You will have more fun on the water this summer knowing you have taken steps to better protect your family and yourself.
